USE OF ROBOTIC TECHNOLOGY

Before the pandemic, automation had been gradually replacing human work in a range of jobs because companies looked to cut labor costs and gain profit. So, some are not happy with the automation and robotic technology because they are losing their jobs and also the automation makes people unhealthy by doing the work that used to do people on their own. But in the pandemic situations like Covid 19, people realized the robotic technology is how much useful and valuable.

There are many kinds of robots in many shapes to do various kinds of tasks. In Texas A&M University and the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue has examined over 120 press and social media reports from China, the U.S.A.  and 19 other countries about how robots are being used during the COVID-19 pandemic.  They’ve found that ground and aerial robots are playing a notable role in almost every aspect of managing the crisis. There is a cylindrical robot that can roll into a treatment room to allow health care workers to remotely take temperatures, measure blood pressure and oxygen saturation from patients. Another robot can travel throughout a hospital disinfecting with ultraviolet light. A cart-like robot brings food to people who quarantined. Another robot called, Quad copter drone brings test samples to laboratories and watch for violations of stay-at-home restrictions. Some robots are even rolling through crowds, broadcasting public service messages about the virus and social distancing.

The best robots for a disaster are the robots that already exist in the health care and public safety sectors. Public works and public safety departments are using robots to spray disinfectant throughout public spaces. In hospitals, doctors and nurses are using robots to interact   with patients from a safe distance. Specialized robots are handling the hidden extra work associated with a surge in patients. Due to the highly infectious nature of the corona virus, robots can provide contact-free alternatives. Robots are a game-changer in pandemics.So,Research laboratories   are creating new robots to perform various tasks.

  Above information receives the idea that how much useful the robotic technology to the world in an unexpected situation like covid 19. Even though, the robots have some kind of disadvantage for people, in such pandemic situations, the robotic technology is very important to handle the crisis.
